Weiss Joins Topps
The Topps Company, Inc., announced the appointment of Staci Weiss as head of entertainment. She will be based in Los Angeles, reporting to Topps’ CEO Ryan O’Hara.
Weiss will be responsible for expanding Topps into the entertainment and media business and will be working across all Topps-owned properties including Bazooka Joe, Garbage Pail Kids, Wacky Packs, Dinosaur Attacks, MechWarrior, Shadowrun, and its Attax brands. She will also be responsible for finding and building new properties as well as the development and execution of building media businesses.
Weiss was previously senior vice-president for 19 Television in the United States where she oversaw franchises, American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance, from production to licensing and merchandising to digital media and sponsorship. Prior to joining 19, Weiss worked for Fox.
Marcus Joins Bravado
Bravado has appointed Deane Marcus to general manager of the company’s U.S. operations reporting to Tom Bennett, CEO of Bravado.
He most recently worked at Sony Music Entertainment, initially as senior vice-president of operations for the Zomba Label Group (including Jive, LaFace, Volcano, and Verity Records), where he was responsible for operations, business development, finance, and administration. He was later promoted to EVP of new ventures for the RCA/Jive Label Group.
Prior to joining Sony, he was SVP, strategic planning and business development for Warner Music Group.
