ZAG’s game development division, ZAG Games, signed with U.S, game publisher GameMill Entertainment and French developer Magic Pockets for a Miraculous – Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir console game.
“As fans of the Miraculous Ladybug series we are excited to be partnering with ZAG to bring this wonderful world to video game consoles,” said GameMill’s SVP of business development and licensing, Andy Koehler. “This franchise has proven to be a critically-acclaimed inspiration for children and adults, and we can’t wait to have these characters brought to life in a whole new way next year.”
Based on the Miraculous animated television series the console game is expected to launch at retail in time for holiday 2022. The Miraculous feature film will premiere in 2022 as well. The fifth season of the series — all seasons of which were recently picked up by Disney Channel and Disney+ streaming platform — is now in development.
“We’re looking to create a highly immersive experience featuring various gameplay elements while empowering players of any age to enjoy a new Miraculous Ladybug experience,” said Elinor Schops, VP of gaming experience at ZAG. “The original game script will align closely with the television series, and we are confident that Magic Pockets and GameMill will bring their expertise, dedication, and passion to the game that will have fans the world over adding it to their holiday ‘22 gift lists.”
Earlier this year, Miraculous made its debut on the Roblox platform with the roleplay quest game, Miraculous RP: Quests of Ladybug & Cat Noir. Introduced in May, it now boasts 245 million plays and comprises 3% of the Roblox global daily active user base, according to ZAG.
ZAG is also currently developing its second mobile game for the property, Miraculous Ladybug Puzzle RPG, with publisher CrazyLabs. Its first mobile game, Miraculous Ladybug & Cat Noir launched three years ago.
