Fred Rogers Productions (FRP) signed an 18-month partnership with 529 College Savings Plans for Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, the animated preschool series.
The sponsorship includes a series of 15-second recognition spots, produced by Bozell, that will be shown before and after each episode of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood on PBS KIDS, via PBS member stations nationwide, as well as in streaming videos on PBSKIDS.org. The spots were developed to inform families about the tax advantages of 529 plans and the importance of saving as early as possible for children’s higher education.
529 College Savings Plans also will receive recognition on the newly launched Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood website.
FRP will provide banners and clickable 529 College Savings Plans logos for the Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood page on the PBS Parents website and PBS KIDS video players, which lead to the organization’s website. FRP is also providing 529 College Savings Plans with downloadable activity/information sheets featuring Daniel Tiger and other characters from the series with advice for parents and grandparents about the importance of giving and saving.
As part of the program, FRP developed specially-designed box art so that children and families can work together to create customized containers – Our Family Box and Our Neighbor Box – for saving products, hand-made items, and ideas to support themes of giving and receiving. The strategy helps emphasize some of the hit series’ enduring concepts: “Whatever you do, think about what other people need, too.”; Making something is one way to say ‘I Love You’”; and “Do something nice for your neighbor.”
