Poptropica Signs with Jazwares
Jazwares has been awarded the master toy license for Poptropica. Under the terms of the deal, Jazwares will develop, manufacture, and distribute a range of Poptropica action figures and plush for the U.S. market for release in 2011.
Poptropica was created to offer kids a fun, safe, and secure place to play online. The site was conceived by Jeff Kinney, author of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. Poptropica is published by Family Education Network, a part of Pearson.
IMC’s Sunkist Signs WillBe for Frozen Treats
IMC Licensing announced that it has negotiated a new licensing agreement on behalf of Sunkist Growers. Licensee WillBe, LLC (conducting business as Game On Foods, a licensee of frozen pizza, ice cream, and frozen novelty products) will produce a line of ice cream, sherbet, and frozen dessert treats for all ages.
The line is expected to launch during the first half of 2011 in North America. Made with 100 percent fruit juice, fruit puree, and fruit pieces, the line is all-natural, vegan, preservative-free, gluten-free, and will not contain high-fructose corn syrup, according to IMC. The product line is expected to include such flavors as orange, orange and cream, lemon-raspberry swirl, orange-mango, orange-passion fruit and lemon-raspberry.
Classic Media, USPS Holiday Promo
Classic Media and the U.S. Postal Service announced that DVDs of holiday special Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer will be available at more than 5,000 post offices nationwide as part of the U.S. Postal Service’s A Simpler Way to Holiday program.
For customers who opt to ship the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer DVD with Priority Mail, they will save $2 off the price of the DVD. The program will be promoted with in-store signage and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer-branded boxes.
Engelbreit Greetings Cards
Papyrus-Recycled Greetings, Inc., has signed artist Mary Engelbreit to create cards. The first two holiday collections will be available for Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day 2011. Mary Engelbreit everyday cards will be available for all occasions in spring 2011.
Mary Engelbreit’s signature artistic style has graced greeting cards for three decades. Her nearly 6,500 licensed products have earned her a dedicated global following.
Springs Global Signs Nate Berkus
Springs Global U.S., Inc., is partnering with design expert and talk show host, Nate Berkus, with a debut collection in spring 2012. This venture both expands Berkus’ retail presence as well as Springs Global’s fast growing portfolio of global brands. The line is expected to include bedding, bath, decorative accessories, dinnerware, lighting, area rugs, windows, design solutions, and select, must-have furniture pieces.
He was first known as the design expert to The Oprah Winfrey Show and is now the host of his own daytime talk show, The Nate Berkus Show. Berkus joins Diane von Furstenberg, Waterworks, and Espacio Sami Hayek, as the latest addition to Springs Global’s expanding licensing partnerships, joint ventures, and brand extensions.
Hilfiger Celebrates with GreenLight
GreenLight, a global media licensing, talent negotiation and rights representation consultancy, announced that it has helped apparel design group Tommy Hilfiger to license several icons for its global 25th anniversary celebration and retail campaign.
The campaign, called Tommy’s Global Celebration of American Style features a 25-piece, limited-edition capsule collection known as The Icon Collection, which updates Hilfiger’s favorite garments inspired by his personal idols such as Grace Kelly, Steve McQueen, Deborah Harry, and others. Included are such classics as a crisp white Oxford shirt, a preppy blue blazer, and a sleeveless navy pea coat.
The launch of the collection is being supported in a global retail campaign with online, PR, events, and in-store promotional activities across more than 730 points of sale globally including Tommy Hilfiger retail stores and department stores such as Macy’s, El Corte Inglés, and Selfridges. The campaign features art by acclaimed Australian painter Michael Zavros.
GreenLight was instrumental in helping showcase some of the biggest influences in American fashion for Tommy’s 25th anniversary. GreenLight managed licensing of six of the seven icons for the campaign including Steve McQueen, Grace Kelly, Deborah Harry, Iggy Pop, Farrah Fawcett, and Clark Gable.
