Monopoly is putting a Bullseye twist on its board game. Hasbro and Target have introduced Monopoly: Target Edition, launching August 1.
Instead of buying properties, players will shop for items at Target. As they move around the board (which represents the store), they place items in their basket and earn Target Circle savings to multiply their savings at the checkout. The player with the most savings at checkout wins the game.
“Hasbro is excited to team up with Target to bring their unique shopping experience to life in an all-new Monopoly game,” said Jeff Anderson, SVP and GM of Hasbro Gaming, “Monopoly: Target Edition lets consumers take the fun of a Target Run to game nights with friends and family, where instead of buying properties, you’re browsing for items and saving the most money to win.”
The collaboration with Hasbro is part of a growing roster of Target partnerships with other toy and game-focused companies, including Disney and FAO Schwarz.
In the last year, the retailer has sold over 5.5 million puzzles, with its T-1401 location in Brookyln, New York selling the most Monopoly games of any Target, at more than 2,000 boards sold.
“Monopoly: Target Edition is the latest example of how we are always exploring new ways to spark moments of joy with all of our guests within our curated assortment of fan-favorite and Target-exclusive games and toys,” said Nik Nayar senior vice president, hardlines, Target. “Thanks to the collaboration between Target and Hasbro, guests will enjoy the magic of Monopoly with all of the excitement of the ‘Target Run’ at the table.”
Fans can pre-order the game beginning June 25 and Target RedCard holders save 5% on their purchase.
