PlayMonster is releasing a limited anniversary edition of its rummy-style card game Five Crowns, which celebrates 25 years this year.
Launching at Barnes and Noble this month, the 25th Anniversary edition will include a specially designed collectors tin, 116 cards, a custom score pad, and a rule book for one to seven players, ages 8 and up.
Additionally, PlayMonster will partner with on-demand camping concierge service, Pitch, to provide decks of the card game in welcome coolers throughout the midwest.
“We’ve noticed that Five Crowns has become a must-have item on game night lists over the years,” said Lisa Wuennemann, Associate VP of Marketing at PlayMonster. “Since 1996, there has been so much love and appreciation for this game, and we’re very excited to celebrate its 25th year with the release of a limited, collector’s edition of Five Crowns.”
After its launch, the game was recognized with awards including the 1996 Parents’ Choice Award and Games’ Magazine’s ‘Games Award’ in 1997. Toy Directory Monthly put the game on its 2008 Top-10 Most Wanted Card Games list.
“I loved games that made me think, so it has always been my goal to create games that are fun but challenging for players of most ages.” said Five Crowns inventor Marsha Jean Falco. “With Five Crowns, I wanted it to be as accessible as it is challenging — and it’s won some awards. I think people like it.”
