Moonbug Entertainment Ltd., one of the largest digital media companies in the world, announced it has once again partnered with World Nursery Rhyme Week, a global initiative that promotes the importance of nursery rhymes in early childhood education and development, to make its award-winning nursery rhyme content available as an educational resource for parents and early year practitioners who work with children under the age of seven. CoComelon, the world’s most-viewed YouTube channel, Little Baby Bum, My Magic Pet Morphle and Ring-a-Tangs will be featured as part of the “Rhyme a Day”challenge, encouraging educators to engage children through interactive activities based on an accompanying nursery rhyme.
Moonbug’s content along with activity ideas, coloring pages, posters, certificates and nursery rhyme quizzes are available in two educational packs for early-year practitioners (nearly 85% of participants are from the early-education sector) and parents. Each of these educational resources will be available for free download upon registration.
“We are thrilled to partner with World Nursery Rhyme Week again to offer top-tier content from some of our leading shows,” said Ditte Lucas, head of brand at Moonbug. “The joy of nursery rhymes transcends generations and is an essential tool to help promote early childhood development by enhancing vocabulary, literacy, musicality and motor skills. It’s because of programs like this that allow educators and parents to connect with children through song.”
World Nursery Rhyme Week’s initiative is to create a connection through song and early-stage development, as interactive activities play an essential role in language acquisition and literacy development. By singing nursery rhymes, children can become more confident learners, develop emergent literacy skills that support memory development, and kick-start the practice of listening and speaking.
“Our partnership with Moonbug enables us to provide highly engaging digital content to early years educators and parents around the world and we are delighted to once again collaborate with Moonbug on this initiative”, said Claire Bennett, founder of World Nursery Rhyme Week. “Nursery rhymes are like rocket fuel for a child’s development, firing their imagination and providing them with the means to develop key skills such as early literacy and language skills, confidence and creativity.”
World Nursery Rhyme Week runs from November 16 – 20, 2020. Since its launch in 2013, nearly 5 million children from over 100 countries have taken part in the initiative, which runs in November each year.
