Nickelodeon Readies Loud House, Ninja Turtles Animated Films for Netflix
Nickelodeon Studios struck a new deal with Netflix to produce two original animated feature films based on two of Nickelodeon’s most important properties: The Loud House and Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
The announcement was made during Viacom’s Q1 earnings call by Viacom President and CEO Bob Bakish, who said of the deal, “This is both incremental business and powerful promotion for the two franchises.”
While few other details were provided at the time of the call, it was noted that the deal will pertain to films only and does not involve the TV series.
Additionally, the company reported that while it lost one point of revenues weighted share in Q1 driven by the larger revenue weight of Nickelodeon in the holiday quarter, the company reported sequential improvement in ad sales with Nickelodeon having its strongest share lead in 15 years.
Nickelodeon’s new president Brian Robbins is also expected to unveil a new content slate which will roll out later this year.
