Southard Communications is seeking a Senior Account Executive (SAE) to join the consumer-focused division of the agency based in New York City. The SAE will have 3–5 years of experience and will be responsible for implementing various public relations and social media activities across multiple client accounts. Day-to-day responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) client management, drafting of media pitches and press releases, cultivating relationships with media, media list creation, social media campaign efforts, and writing monthly reports.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Excellent time-management, organizational, and management skills
- Demonstrable problem-solving skills, ability to perform independently when necessary, and, at the same time, part of the team

- Adaptability and experience with managing multiple clients
- Experience in the consumer products field, juvenile products, and toys is a HUGE plus
Professional Skills Needed:
- Able to garner significant media placements/interviews supporting client objectives
- Proficient in writing press releases, fact sheets, and pitches
- Understanding of consumer media and trade, for example, who the key players are
- Ability to develop and articulate strategic recommendations to client and team. Seeking someone is who not just a “do-er” but also a “thinker”
- Proven track record when it comes handling direct client contact
- Experience and success with building clients’ social media platforms such as growing followers and likes
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Account management: Maintain day-to-day contact with the client; ensure timely delivery of projects; oversee daily media outreach; manage specific projects that are part of a larger campaign; develop programming with senior account team; supervise more junior staff/interns to ensure they have a balanced workload and the information they need to complete tasks on deadline
- Editorial: Draft PR materials, including press releases, backgrounders, pitch letters, and other documents;
- Project implementation: Manage the implementation of PR plan, including media events, media tours, influencer programs, create content for social media channels

- Some travel may be required for trade shows
