Betty Boop and the UFL

King Features Syndicate has signed a licensing deal for its Betty Boop character with the burgeoning new United Football League (UFL). Betty Boop will serve as the official fantasy cheerleader of the new league and be featured on USF team-specific merchandise. The first licensee on board to develop USL/Betty Boop co-branded products is Trevco Sportswear, which will launch team T-shirts this fall at retailers in UFL markets and at local stadiums.

Founded by Silicon Valley billionaire Bill Hambrecht, the UFL kicks off its second season this fall. The UFL was developed to fulfill the needs of sports fans in major markets currently under served by professional football. The League features top players (more than half have played in the NFL) and coaches, including former head coaches Jim Fassel (New York Giants), Denny Green (Arizona Cardinals) and Chris Palmer (Cleveland Browns). For the coming season, the UFL will have teams in five cities: Omaha, Sacramento, Hartford, Las Vegas, and Orlando. UFL games will be broadcast nationally on Versus and HDnet.
